Cat Flea (Ctenocephalides felis felis)
Description: The cat flea is small at around 2 mm long, reddish brown in colour and is flattened laterally, a feature which enables it to move easily amongst the hair of its vertebrate host. They have large jumping legs and its mouth parts are adapted for piercing and sucking.
They can host Tape Worm which can be passed to cat, dogs and humans in particular young children.
How to control cat fleas: Treatment consists of identifying the source of the infestation i.e. the host animal(s) and getting them treated by a veterinarian. The house can then be treated to control the outbreak.
